Fever

Fever is a shop on a street behind my office that I walk by every day but hardly ever go in... today I got this skirt half price for £25. I fell in love with the print. Saw it through the window walking by and had bought it within about 5 mins. Check the print full size... it has little whales on it!

Love the shell necklace.

Will be wearing this around Disneyworld next week with my fave UO crop top.

i enjoy looking at pictures of cakes online

HAMBURGER CUPCAKES. MAZING. Reminds me of Andy's 23rd birthday when the cake consisted of 23 McDonalds hamburgers stacked up in a pyramid with a candle on top. Best cake ever.

Chips at The Boundary

We went to The Boundary rooftop in Shoreditch for work drinks last week. I didn't take any photos, but we had the most incredible chips, jambon serrano, too many daquiris and and an amazing view. Click the link to see a 360 video of where we sat, on the couch by the grill. Twas great...

TOPSHOP blogged about it and happily they pointed me in the direction of the artist behind the wallpaper in the lift up to the rooftop. INCREDIBLE.

Adam Simpson designed the paper above for their lift. It's all behind glass in panels with dark wood. View the image larger; there is so much detail and I wanted the lift to take longer so I would have more time to examine it.

Absolutely adore the two pieces above too.

As well as the rooftop grill The Boundary has an indoor restaurant, bar, a bakery, and twelve guest bedrooms each with a different design inpsired by various designers and design movements such as Bauhaus or Charles & Ray Eames.

Pricy but great looking. I can not stress how good the chips were!

oops

erm... I think everyone in London has gone a little bit nuts over the Luella sample sale. I was worried that the 5 minute queue in the midday sun might kill me. Once inside I had a quick run around and I had about 5 bags hanging off my arms. These bags are HEAVY so it was very awkward. But I managed to narrow it down to this orange ponyskin and leather bowling bag with ma-hassive tassels and gold studs and a gold skeleton. It's a lot bigger than it looks in the photo and I am in LOVE! Pls excuse how badly written this paragraph is but it is just TOO hot and I can not string a sentence together.

Also picked up these 2 tshirts for £15

floral power suit

Just had to repost this Birthday Suit blazer after I saw it on Susie's blog.

It's a highly superior alternative to the TOPSHOP floral blazer (now on sale for £35), which I've been obsessed with for some time.

I never bought it because I kind of HATE blazers. But I loved the print so much that I bought the skirt and wore it with floral tights and had someone kindly tell me that my outfit made them "laugh out loud" but they "grew to love it" ...

Kind of daydreaming about wearing it as a floral power suit right now.

I've fallen a bit out of love with the print since I've seen it all over the place including in people's gross Ibiza holiday photos and even on Michaela McQueen - for those of you who don't subject yourself to hangover Hollyoaks I have kindly supplied a photo of her.

Also... Those Karen Walker Sunglasses! Have been obsessed with them for ages too.

LOVE the vampire styled lookbook.

Over accessorising almost cost Lucybloom a job

In Dublin I was way into wearing about fifty necklaces at a time (as can be seen above) ... I miss my blue hair... When I moved to London my jewellery box was too heavy to bring with me. And when I say 'box' I mean HUGE CARDBOARD BOX THE SIZE OF A TV just full to the brim with all the cheap nasty jewellery that I'd amassed over the years. Just looking at it would probably make your skin turn green, obv because of a bad nickel metal rash... not with envy or anything...

Anyways I've no qualms with cheap jewellery as my ears seem to be able to withstand the nastiest of metals. Because I have a small jewellery business (lol) on the side means that I have a drawer full of tools that enable me to repair the inevitable falling apart that almost all high street "fashion" jewellery is inclined to do.

Anyways, as part of my spiral into living way way way beyond my means I've gotten into my head that I must find THE PERFECT necklace as it's time to give my UO wooden owl necklace a break.

Pamela Love is a name I've been hearing a lot and not bothering to look up. OOPS. Anyway I now realise that she is pretty much the lady to go to for the type of jewellery I am looking for.

There is a nice write up about her on UO Blog from a while ago.

This bracelet is my favourite piece.

She has also designed a necklace for my fave Nordic Vampire (TRUE BLOOD) which is available to buy online

AND - I only just made the connection that she designed the amazing accessories at Zac Posen AW09 that had me dying.

why I should be locked up during SALE time

On Saturday I went to check out the Diane Arbus exhibition only to discover that the gallery was closed. This ALWAYS seems to happen to me. So instead I wandered around Mayfair eating ice cream and perusing Browns etc... looking at the designer sale.

NEED WANT MUST HAVE these Chloe sunglasses (I've wanted them for about 2 years now), Alexander McQueen leggings - highly considering these but not sure I'll fit in the small... and this Stella McCartney giant shell necklace which, according to my blog archive, I have wanted since SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2008. They are all half price.

Look what you made me do!

Big gold buckle!

I arrived home from France to find a Luella sale preview invite on my doorstep. Sorry... But I can't say no to 50% discounted shoes.

Oops. I bought them. I haven't been a fan of this season at all but I have been kind obsessed with all the purple/orange. The shoes have a massive hidden platform and big gold buckle.

Ermmmmm massive ebaying to commence today....

à bientôt

Dan took this - I think it's the only photo -click to view larger- that properly captures my Chanel hologram nail polish (best nail polish ever - bottle almost empty now... )

I'm off to the Côte d'Azur this afternoon for a few days to eat lots of steak and drink lots of coca. Carpaccio to start, filet mignon bleu, and ice cream sundaes for dessert. yum yum yum. I've brought with me more clothes than I can wear and more books than I'll have time to read. CAN'T WAIT.

amuses the whole family

On Monday I went to the MUSEUM OF CHILDHOOD in Bethnal Green. It was kinda disappointing... but the exhibit of Quentin Blake illustrations was great.

THE WITCHES was always my favourite.

TMNT - recognised this instantly as one of my fave burger king toys of all time. I think I had a few of these. They're prob still somewhere in the house.

Beatles magnetic hair...

mr. men skirt

mickey mouse shirt

I used to have this exact tea set.

mini organ - yes please

This is a new toy from 2006. For the first time ever I'm jealous of 'noughties' kids... There I was thinking that I had the best toys and that they were stuck with crap like 'bratz' and 'imagine you have a baby' nintendo ds games... but little did I know they also can sit around making WHALE DOLPHIN BEARS and PUMA DOLPHIN SHARKS.

light as a feather

... some photos I took on the walk from my sister's house in Edinburgh to the cinema.

painting the roses red

I've been championing the half shirt for quite some time. In fact, An Ode to the Half-Shirt is still one of the most viewed posts on this blog.

Anyway, it has been a pretty exciting week in terms of half shirt news. American Apparel finally started doing them in colours other than gray. Maybs this is old news though? Them becoming ubiquitous does not bother me at ALL because now it means I can buy more.

Also Lou has come out with a new bra top which I am DYING for and must have immediately.

Just picturing the ruffles poking out under a half shirt. DYING. Can't wait to have mine!

ps. Look what's growing outside my front door? I love my flat.

Yum yum yum...

My week has mostly consisted of:

Discovering I can buy my fave Irish soda bread in Fortnum & Mason.

SNL and lots of lols.

Drinking out of my star trek cup at work.

Making delicious desserts for my lil sis who's staying with me this week. The littlest sister... In Jonai Brethren terms she's the Nick and, much to my dismay, I'm the Kevin. BTW in case you didn't notice... I put a giant choc chip cookie underneath the meringue. Guilt for not offering my poor old boarding school sis a home cooked meal? Perhaps.

"What's for dinner Jade?"
"... Sandwiches."

Unearthing old beauties while playing dress up with sister. Hiiiiii Stella.

what it will take to make me exercise

Today on my lunch break I popped by the new Marc by Marc shop. I bought my old perfume and was instantly taken back in a cloud of nostalgia to the summer where I wore leotards all day, went out dancing every night, and mostly survived on a diet of mr. freeze ice lollies, microchip sandwiches, vodka, and hopeless crushes.

I'm checking out Pam Hogg's pop up boutique tomorrow. 2006 me would be all over her catsuits. 2009 me would basically not even be able to squeeze into one... er, if I ever want to wear a leotard again I am going to have to do some exercise... cos, let's face it, giving up KFC is NOT an option.

I've narrowed it down to 5 possibilities

1. Tap Lessons at Pineapple with Jess
Cost - £10 a week, a pair of tap shoes...
Likelihood of me actually doing it: 8/10
Downside: I will use this as an excuse to buy a ridiculous amount of dancewear. If I've had a few drinks I will force people to watch me practice my tap dancing... actually, I do this already, drunk AND sober... so I guess it wouldn't make much of a difference except that I would now know some moves... OK... NO DOWNSIDE... We're doing this next Tuesday.

2. Swimming before work

Cost - I'm not sure because the East Dulwich swimming pool website is crap... probably a few quid a go - and a one off cost of buying a swimsuit, goggles, and maaaaaaaybe a Marc Jacobs swimming cap.
Likelihood of me actually doing it: 5/10 - I love swimming but do NOT love getting up early.
Downside: Waking up early and smelling like chlorine all the time.

3. Wii Fit
Cost - ~£250
Likelihood of me actually doing it: 10/10 if someone bought one for me.
Downside: I'm just as likely to spend all night playing Zelda and eating pizza instead of, yknow, doing Yoga and imaginary hula hoop. Also, expensive.

4. DDR Machine

Since the age of 16 when I first discovered Dance Dance Revolution on the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk it has been my DREAM to have my own personal DDR machine in my house. In second year of uni it's quite possible that Mark and I spent more time playing DDR in the UGC arcade than we did attending lectures. The playstation version and a crappy plastic dance mat will NOT do. It has to be the actual machine. (That's a photo of me btw)
Cost - over £1000
Likelihood of me actually doing it: 10/10 if I had the machine.
Downside: Too expensive. No space in my studio apartment. I would never leave the house.

5. Personal Trainer

Preferably Andy Samberg, dressed like this:

I think if I moved to New York I could make this happen for free?

lunch time yet???

I've reached the point in my day where it's 11.50am and, too excited about lunch to concentrate, I try on some samples. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Peter Jensen coat that we'll be getting in this autumn. It has a fur hood collar and pom poms.

Also pictured, my Something Else tee. If you are not a fan of ironing (I don't even own one) then I would def recommend wearing 100% polyester tees. You can pretend it's silk - without the dry cleaning bills.

It just got worse

Now the woman in front of me has turned around to play peekaboo and talk to the baby beside me.

-- Post From My iPhone

Twitter for the middle aged

The woman in front of me on the train has been trying to start a conversation with anyone that so much as looks in her direction for the past three hours.

While I've been spending the last three hours whining on twitter about the people seated beside me (man with tweed blazer constantly elbowing me, woman with snotty loud French baby constantly moaning "mamaaaan") I've also been thanking god that this chatty woman wasn't sitting next to me. I've also been cowering in fear that she'll actually just turn around and try talking to me. She's tried, and been quickly rebuffed with one word answers and awkward laughter, by everyone that's walked by her - including the lady that pushes the snack trolley and the boy that collects the rubbish.

Seen as I am literally allergic to small talk I hate nothing more than people sitting next to me on trains, planes, and buses trying to start conversations with me. I mean I'm sure I've whined about hating having to talk to taxi drivers and loathing when places I regularly eat at start saying, "your regular?" and beaming at me with familiarity (why is it so hilarious that I always order a toasted cheese and red onion ciabatta?!). Naturally this also applies to hairdressers.

If you know me I'm sure I've also whined about how my aversion or complete inability to make small talk leaves most people thinking I hate them... I DON'T... I just don't like... Talking?

Also, for some reason most old ladies that sit next to me on planes always seem to ask me how my A levels are going even though 25 is looming. Perhaps the extreme amount of frowning I do on public transport will eventually age my face slightly?

The woman in front of me has now just resorted to giving verbal status updates; just generally announcing stuff to the carriage like, "oh these seats are very narrow aren't they?" ... "Shall I have another pack of crisps" ... "no I shan't I'll just have this coffee" ..."oh MY it's very bumpy!" etc...

Obviously I've been spending the journey updating twitter and blogging about my train journey... Which I guess is kind of the same thing except not half as annoying as this woman in front of me. This is yet another reason why I love the Internet and technology about five thousand times more than I love chatting about where some random person is going on holiday to and having to explain my weird accent to them.

urban outfitters press day

Here are some photos from our press day - the boutique buyers have been KILLING it lately... so much stuff I want.

Peter Jensen - look at the prints! Also there is an amazing pom pom icelandic folktale-y duffle coat, but the photo didn't come out.

More See By Chloe shoes for me to obsess about.

Luella - wasn't mad on aw09 but, as usual, once I see it all up close it looks a lot better. There is a great coat that we'll be getting in.

Cropped, studded tee... with shoulderpads... love it.

We're getting some AMAZING lingerie and bodysuits.

Loads more of my fave aussie brand Something Else.

Acne Pop ... finally!

loaaaadsa new colours of our nail polish.

More photos to come... I'm off to Edinburgh for the weekend... byeeeeeee

Conversation Hearts

Was browsing The Selby last night and came across possibly the best cinema sweets ever. Is this for real? Click the image to view it full size and read the hilarious text. I think the one that says "Lamb" disturbs me the most.

HOLGA K-200N

Got my film developed today after taking photos at the Urban Outfitters press day. We are getting some amaaaaaazing stuff in next season so I will do a post about it tomorrow.

Here are photos from my weekend. My new shoes in Shepherd's Bush Green, Sarah eating her free McDo cheeseburger, and kind of crappy photos of the YYYs gig. I don't think I could have captured how great their stage set looked - wish I had gotten some decent pictures of the eyeball.

power shoulders n power lunches

This morning I went on an office breakfast run (conveniently it fit in with my plans to go and return stuff to TOPSHOP) except I forgot what I was supposed to get anyone and instead got myself the Barbara Hulanicki dress I've been obsessing about for days. I just really hope that I don't get put off it by seeing it puked up over any of those fashion "blogs" that I hate aka "pictures of me standing around on a road wearing average clothes".

I'm also suddenly fixated on finding flats with a slight heel. I love these see by chloe ones. They sort of look like the shoes of a librarian or maybe Princess Anne or something... but... I LIKE THEM!

Picked up From A to Biba (Hulanicki's autobiography - signed copy too, lol) to read on the train up to Edinburgh this weekend. I have requested a table seat so am going to very productive and work on my new top secret Enfant Terrible project. Now, I SAY it's "top secret" ... but I'll prob blab on about it at length to anyone who asks and end up not doing it at all. Maybe someday I will fulfill one of my childhood dreams of designing clothes and having my own shop / hangout (note: my other childhood dreams were to be a WAITRESS or a professional figure skater slash author/illustrator) ...

It's a mad house

I'm waiting for my photos to be developed...

Last week involved me accidentally walking into the topshop sale (aka hell on earth) and snapping up some purple doc martens for cheeeeaaaap.

They are EXTREMELY squeaky so I'm in the process of battering them up.

Walked them along (squeak squeak squeak) to Leicester square and was pretty horrified by this magazine (cut off whose legs?) and the fact that the Hannah Montana premiere was taking place in my fave cinema thus ruining my plans to go see 17 again. I settled for the totes threadbare (never going back) rip off cinema next door to it.

My shoes squeaked all the way through the film.

It was an okay movie... but considering body swap movies are my favourite genre I have very high expectations for them.

Saturday night I saw YEAH YEAH YEAHS and I'm kind of still recovering. Soooooo good. I dance/trampled my way to the front row. They played art star! The giant eyeball turned around halfway through the gig to be a full moon lit from within. Confetti raining from the ceiling and Karen o convulsing on the floor with the microphone in her mouth. She wore the amazing zero studded leather jacket. My mind was pretty much blown.

Hangover meant all plans to be cultural went out the window and I spent Sunday watching lost boys and whining.

Can someone please use their Internet skills to find out when THE INFORMERS comes out in London pls?

-- Post From My iPhone

Ps. Not usually fussed with topshop designer collabs but the barbara hulanicki red dress looks soooo good. It's in store tmw

Erreur de la banque en votre faveur

I'm back from France now. Spent most of Easter eating lots of meat and drinking glass bottles of coca. Got an awkard ski tan and have this sort of "red nose with white stripe across the bridge" thing going on.

The sunburn can sort of be concealed with make up but the fatness due to eating 3 ice cream sundaes a day, for a week, can not.

The only channels working in the chalet were truemovies (basically lifetime) and nme tv. I spent every morning basically skiing from snackerie to restaurant to snackerie with some extra breaks for snacks. I spent my afternoons watching tv and reading American Psycho. With our limited choice of channels I discovered that most of the cast of Lost have featured in a "true movie" and have to just put it out there that if I ever hear another La Roux song I will go on a Pat Bateman rage spree. She is AWFUL. Although it's quite fun to do impressions of her singing right in your sister's ear while she's trapped in a telesiege with you unable to escape.

Back in London and I feel I might be coming out of my annual winter hibernation, meaning that hopefully my life (and blog) will become more interesting.
